The leaves are changing and the temperature is cooling down - it's officially fall! Even though the days are getting shorter and midterms are rolling in, it's important to keep up an active lifestyle through the fall semester. There's the obvious ways to keep your heart healthy, such as the gym and walking more, but there are some great thing to do in Ottawa to keep your heart pumping. Here are some of our team's favourite activities:
Fall Rhapsody - Gatineau Try out one of the many trails in Gatineau Park! The park is a great way to spend a weekend day and there's a free shuttle from Byward Market each weekend from September 29th- October 21st. Take a walk and enjoy the colourful foliage!
Bike Around - Ottawa Ottawa is home to quite a few bike trails. Biking down the scenic Ottawa River pathway is sure to get you moving and enjoying the beautiful colours of the trees. Don't have a bike? Check out http://www.rentabike.ca/ who rent out bikes for $10/hour, $25/4 hours or $40/day!
Spin Class - 123 Slater St. Is it just too cold out? Don't worry, you can still get a good bike exercise in by attending one of SpinCo's 40-50 minute classes for only $20! With good music, dimmed lights and an energetic instructor, you'll definitely be having a good time.
Saunders Farm - Munster Boo! Get your heart pumping with a good scare. Saunder's Farm puts on its yearly themed Haunting Season & Frightfest. Not sure how to get there without a car? Use your UPASS and catch the 61 from Laurier to the last stop, Shea/Golbourn. From there, grab a 15 minute drive with Uber/Lyft to the farm.
Camp Fortune - Gatineau Breathe in some more crisp fall air by visiting Camp Fortune for a day. Once your there, try out their zip-lining or the scenic chair lift ($5/person). The same (free) Gatineau shuttle that is running from Byward market will take you to Camp Fortune!
Puppy Yoga - Kanata/Downtown We recognize that having a good de-stressing session is also good for the heart. Try out one the very popular puppy yoga classes in Kanata or Downtown! Only for $30, these classes fill up really quick, so make sure you sign up asap!
